ENVIRONMENTAL Poem: DREAM OF GREEN, by Jeanne C. Wilkinson

Performed by Val Cole

POEM:

In and out I breathe,
a flick of pixillated light
between these tender eye-lids.
Yellow
screaming in the heat, chartreuse.

It rains it rains and rains
our dry savannah skin fills
plump and clammy pulling
loose
in great gray glassy sheets

And new our sleek green
selves slip off we slip we slither
into rain black shimmer
trees
adrip with thick and plunky drops

With one eye blinking
one eye wide wide open and no
darkling scent of dog this
Time…
no scent of dog at all this time…

I am so fast through deep
green ripply, ripply, ripply.
Knife-nailed toes they
track
the silk muck of my dream.
