REQUIEM FOR A RIVER, 58min., USA
Directed by Mary Patierno
Requiem for a River explores the New Mexico stretch of the Rio Grande — an iconic but endangered American waterway — in a time of climate change and calls for environmental justice. Through lyrical imagery and in-depth interviews with a diverse range of residents — Native, Latino, Indo-Hispanic and Anglo — this visually poetic documentary reveals the once-mighty river’s role as a lifeline in the desert and asks whether the keys to a more sustainable, equitable future lie in New Mexico’s ancient past.

EXTINGUISH THE BURNERS AND LIGHT UP LIFE, 30min., Netherlands
Directed by Angel Hernandez
Pablo Fajardo, the renowned environmental lawyer who managed to bring down the North American transnational Chevron (formerly Texaco), shows us his world of commitment for the rights of an Amazonian population affected by oil activities. Together with the activist Donald Moncayo and the Union of People Affected by Texaco, the discourse in defense of the environment extends and structures a series of events and testimonies with a clear purpose: to make visible the struggle and injustice that has been going on in that region of Ecuador for more than fifty years, for the humble attempt to cross borders and raise awareness among the public of all ages of the fragility, duality and privilege promoted by the dominant energy system in the world.

TOKU WAIATA / MY SONG, 13min., New Zealand
Directed by Millie Gillard
Millie Gillard
Star is a bird of many names. K?rearea, k?iaia, the New Zealand falcon.
Aotearoa was once a nation of manu. Winged creatures reigned: bats, bugs and birds. Whilst flightless creatures crawled the land, the skies were ruled by aerial predators, some of these birds almost mythical in size.

TOOTH REGENERATION, 6min., Canada
Directed by Ken Yu, David Klitovchenko
Ken Yu, David Klitovchenko
Tooth decay is a problem that affects roughly over a third of the population. Although treatments like fillings and root canals can take care of this issue, sometimes the problem is so severe that teeth need to be extracted and replaced by implants. However, this is a complex and costly procedure that cannot always be performed in certain patients. In this video, we describe the alternative possibility of adult tooth regeneration by exploring how sharks naturally regenerate thousands of teeth over their lifetime.
